About

Toyota Tuner is written and edited by Neill Watson, a motor industry career professional, specialising in car photography & video, motorpsort and motoring media websites and in fact, anything to do with cars. The aim is to bring together all of the global strands of the Toyota product, it history and the people who tune and modify them. It’s aimed to be a broad church, so whether you’re a Supra drag racer, a Corolla rally driver, a Landcruiser overlander or even a VIP Style tuner, there’s a place for you here.

If you know of a feature car, motorsport team or any other interesting Toyota Tuner, get in touch and tell us all about it. So why chose Toyota for a website?

I have a strong afinity with Toyota’s products. Way, way back in 1984, I managed to get a job against all odds selling cars. “You don’t have the gift of the gab” I was told. True… “Your patter will stink.” Also true, ask the wife. But I was lucky in two ways. Firstly, I was given the chance by a small car dealership that didn’t operate like a sausage factory and actually cared for it’s customers and staff. And secondly it had a Toyota franchise sign above the door. The MR2 Mk1 was about to be launched and I remember the first time I drove a mid engined car was a revelation. Quite how I didn’t kill myself in it as a 19 year old, I’m not sure.
Right now in the UK, Toyota don’t have the high profile of performance products they enjoyed in the 80’s and 90’s, with things like the Carlos Sainz GT-Four and Supra Twin Turbo long absent from the price list. Of course they’re legendary amongst the tuner community, but with no new products to challenge things like the Impreza Turbo and Mitsubishi’s Evo lineup, it has to be said that Toyota might be looking boring again in some countries.
So time for Toyota Tuner. Here we’ll be showcasing all the great products and services that other countries have, from Top Fuel Drag Racing in North America to TRD supercharged HiLux pickups in Australia.
