Over at the Japanese car site car@nifty.com, there is masses of info about the new FT-86 Concept, sadly mostly in Japanese! However, there are a lot more pictures with some great detail shots showing some of the design elements of the car much better, so here’s some thoughts on the eye catching bits.

Probably my favourite design feature are the carbon details, in particular the trims built into the alloy wheel design. Quite how practical this will be to put into a production car, I’m not sure but lets hope that it’s possible to carry over this feature. You can also see the ADVICS brakes.

Other great styling features include the razor sharp bonnet line, aggressively sculpted front wheel arches, similar to the Mazda RX8 treatment, plus more really cool carbon detailing on door handles, rear undertray and wing mirrors. There are absolutely loads of small detail features that make this car one to stand and look at for a long while if you’re lucky enough to be attending the Tokyo Motor Show later this month.
